We also examined the effect of orally gavaged or intraperitoneal injected buspirone on EC–induced anxiety/depression in mice. Exposure to EC decreased the OT in the EPM task and TL in the LDT task and increased the immobility time in the TST and FST, resulting in anxiety/depression . However, orally gavaged or intraperitoneally injected buspirone significantly reduced EC–induced anxiety-/depression-like behaviors, suppressed EC–induced TNF- and IL-1 expression in the hippocampus . Buspirone also suppressed EC–induced corticosterone and IL-6 levels in the blood .

Warnings For Other Groups
For pregnant women: Buspirone is a category B pregnancy drug. That means two things:
Talk to your doctor if youre pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Animal studies dont always predict the way humans would respond. Therefore, this drug should only be used in pregnancy if clearly needed.
For women who are breastfeeding: Its not known if buspirone passes into breast milk and causes side effects in a child who is breastfed. Talk to your doctor if you breastfeed your child. You may need to decide whether to stop breastfeeding or stop taking this medication.
For seniors: The kidneys of older adults may not work as well as they used to. This can cause your body to process drugs more slowly. As a result, a higher amount of a drug stays in your body for a longer time. This raises your risk of side effects.
For children: There is no information available on how safe or effective buspirone is for long-term use in children. Dont use this drug in children younger than 18 years.

How To Take Buspar
